The leaf boats (Victoria Park)
The estuary tonight is flooded high
With tide and falling rain and drainage
From the Connswater. The water moving slowly left to right
From where I’m standing, In the darkness of the stream
Are floating many fallen leaves in amber and in green
But mostly shades of gold and brown and curled up at the edges making ships
Curve ribbed and held up by the water’s shining skin
and sailing down in multitudes into an unknown ocean
